Taylor Made R11 Titanium Fairway Wood Details

Why make the clubhead white?
  1. The white crown and black face provides optimum contrast against the ground to make the club significantly easier to align and aim.
  2. The white crown eliminates "hot spots" caused by reflected sunlight.
  3. The white crown make the clubhead appear larger (2%) at address, boosting confidence.

Product Q & A

What is the difference between the titanium fairway woods and the regular. Also if you could tell me the positive and negatives of the club compared to the regular
Wednesday, July 06, 2011 10:42 AM
Answer by a Discount Golf World Expert
The main difference is one has a titanium club head and the R11 or ?regular? has steel. Better woods are made of stainless steel, but the best woods are titanium. Titanium is meant to be hotter; it?s the most expensive material used to build golf club heads and combines light weight and excellent strength. Most titanium alloys possess the same strength as common grades of stainless steel, but are 40% less dense (the weight per volume area). The lower density of titanium allows the head to be made much larger in size and still possess the same strength than if steel alloy were used. It creates a larger sweet spot and therefore the clubs are more forgiving for mishits, a great positive of the TaylorMade R11 Titanium Fairway Wood. In addition, Titanium achieves a better spring face performance (high COR) and has a better corrosion resistance. The downside may be the price, but the choice is really yours to make, based upon your needs. Also available is the R11 TP Ti Fairway. TP stands for tour preferred model, the shaft property is usually a favored choice of golf pros.
