Taylor Made Burner 2.0 Irons Sets 2011 Details

Known as "The Unstoppable 8" the #1 selling iron just got better! Every new Burner 2.0 iron has been engineered to be long. The faces are thinner, the top lines are progressive and the shafts are specifically designed for each head. COR and MOI ratings have been maximized, and every iron has consistent distance gaps from one iron club to the next.
  • THIN FACE: each iron has a particular face thickness to optimize ball speed and distance
  • GAPPING: the irons sets have perfect distance gaps from one to the next, with custom head tuning and shaft tuning based on the club
  • SOUND & FEEL: irons have been uniquely tuned to produce a sound and feel to match the power inside every iron
  • CG LOCATION: each iron has its own weight distribution, making every club perform at its best
  • INVERTED CONE: each club has a unique shape, with the cone repositioned and reshaped behind every face to maximize forgiveness and distance
  • HEAD SHAPE & SIZE: every club is sized differently and has its own shape, with longer irons having larger heads while smaller irons are more compact
  • SOLE DESIGN: every club's sole has been shaped to reduce ground resistance to achieve a perfect balance between geometry and performance
  • SHAFTS: the shaft on each iron has its own kick point, higher in scoring irons and lower in long irons

Product Review: I hit these 1 club longer than my Callaway X16 Pros from 2003. Its becasue the loft is about 1 club different, but who cares. I'm a consistent 6.1-7.9 handicap and my last 4 rounds I have averaged 77 with these. I even shot an even par 70 on a nice par 70 course (124 slope), first time ever shooting par. They feel great and the extra club distance instills confidence. I might upgrade the grip, which are nice but small and hard. They look good too. Was this review helpful to you? Yes/No

Product Q & A

I have had a set of clubs partially damaged. Can I purchase a 8 iron only or the 4 wood metal separately? Thank you. DCTaylor

The Burner 2.0 Irons have been discontinued. We regret that we no longer have the Burner 4 Fairway Wood and that the 8 iron is not available for purchase separately. Thank you for your inquiry to DGW. We hope you find your replacement clubs.

This is last year's model. 1 and 2 were never available and the 3 iron is no longer available. You may wish to look at the new RocketBallz Irons or RocketBallz Rescue Clubs to round out your set. Thank you for your inquiry to DGW. Enjoy your next round!

what is the weight difference between a graphite iron versus stel shaft?
Thursday, May 24, 2012 07:28 AM
Answer by a Discount Golf World Expert
The weight difference depends on which graphite shaft and which steel shaft you are comparing. Graphite is typically lighter than steel. Because this is last year's model, shaft availability is limited. The set on this page features TaylorMade Superfast steel shafts which weigh 85 grams. The TalylorMade Superfast graphite shafts weigh 65 grams and were available previously in this model. You may wish to check out the new Taylormade RocketBallz irons if you are interested in graphite shafts. We hope this answers your question. If you wish to inquire further regarding the availability of custom order shafts, please contact the DGW customer service department at the number at the top of this page.

do these come with the KPS shaft? KPS might be the wrong name but it is something like that.
Wednesday, May 09, 2012 09:40 PM
Answer by a Discount Golf World Expert
We think you're referring to KBS shafts, and these irons are not available with that shaft option. The irons come standard with Burner 2.0 Superfast steel or graphite shafts. A number of custom-order shafts are available in the varieties listed under the "Specifications" tab above. With the many shaft options available, we are confident that one of them will fit your game. We hope this information is helpful. Thank you for your inquiry to DGW.

What dose the A on the wedge stand for
Saturday, April 14, 2012 03:36 PM
Answer by a Discount Golf World Expert
The "AW" stands for approach wedge or the gap wedge. This wedge is used to hit a shot with higher and shorter trajectory than a pitching wedge and lower and longer trajectory than a sand wedge. The name derives from the club's design to fill the "gap" between sand and pitching wedges. Thank you for your question. Have a great day!

what is a taylormade aw wedge
Saturday, November 05, 2011 04:29 PM
Answer by a Discount Golf World Expert
AW stands for approach wedge, or gap wedge (GW) are essentially the same club. Different manufacturers use the term interchangeably. They are usually between 50-54 degrees. Its meant to fill the distance between a SW, sand wedge (one club longer than an AW) and a PW, pitching wedge (one club shorter than). You may also think of your PW as a 10-iron, the AW would be the 11-iron and an extension of your iron set, just as your pitching wedge with a little more loft. Hope this helps and please don't hesitate to connect the DGW golf experts at 1-866-411-4349. Thank you!

should i get regular or stiff flex steel shafts?
Wednesday, July 20, 2011 01:03 AM
Answer by a Discount Golf World Expert
Well, it?s important to have the proper flex for your swing speed. Otherwise, the clubface may be misaligned at impact and that causes your shots to go off-target. Here are some general guidelines: Take a look at the distance you typically hit the driver. If you hit 240 or more yards, go with Stiff. About 210-240 yards, Regular; 180-210, Senior; less than 180 yards, Ladies. The biggest hitters are going to need Extra Stiff. Now, if you have a very smooth swing, you may benefit from a softer flex. Please contact us at 1-866-411-4349 if you have any further questions!
