The day for delivery of the much anticipated Titleist 913 Driver draws near. Titleist begins shipping the new 913s today, November 1, 2012.. If you haven’t ordered yours, you’ll want to. Trust me when I say that this. The 913s are far and away the best Titleist driver made to date.

The 913s have already replaced the 910s in the bags of virtually every Titleist Tour staffer around the globe, and for the same reasons that you and I go driver-shopping – distance and playability. The new 913s are the most forgiving and longest Titleist drivers ever. Rory McIlroy won the PGA (and led the field in driving distance) with a 913 D3 in his bag. He and Nick Watney, also using the 913D3, swept all but the Tour Championship in the 2012 FedExCup playoffs. Pros are raving about it, and for good reason.

Titleist’s latest driver is available in two models, the 913 D2 and 913 D3, both of which have the SureFit® Tour hosel that allows golfers 16 unique settings to independently adjust loft and lie for optimal ball flight. Titleist refers to this as the “Tour Van-in-a-Hosel” because it lets the golfer come as close as possible to custom-fit adjustability.

Titleist makes good looking drivers and always has, but the 913s take driver aesthetics to a new level. They are simply beautiful golf clubs. They are darker than the 910s, offering a classic and intimidating look. There’s no clutter, either on the crown or the sole. Both the D2 and D3 have a classic pear-shape and deliver a traditional appearance at address.

Titleist found a way to lower CG and redistribute weight to optimize launch, and that’s important. But the really big news is the hotter titanium face insert. The new face is made of 6-4 Titanium that is thinner and organically tapered so that it perfectly matches the body thickness of the face perimeter. That translates to more flex, or more spring-like effect, if you will. According to Titleist, the new face increases the maximum ball speed area up to 11%, resulting in over 2 mph of additional ball speed. More ball speed equals more distance across the face, and both models deliver low spin, as well, for further distance-enhancement.

The 913D2 features a full 460cc pear shape with a very slight draw bias. The 913 D3 is a 445cc classic pear shape that is designed to offer tour-inspired workability. Here are the specs, courtesy of Titleist:
