When a golfer is looking for a new driver they typically look for a few main attributes to build the perfect club. Loft, shaft stiffness, tip flex and head design are all major factors in a golfers decision making process. After a proper fitting, the golfer should have the ideal driver for the perfect day of golf. The problem is that not every day is the perfect day of golf. While your ideal driver may work well in some conditions, it may work against you in others. Callaway I-Mix technology will virtually eliminate conditional factors off the tee.
When a tour pro is playing in a tournament, they have a whole team of people in the tour van dedicated to adjusting their equipment for the right conditions. If they know that wind will play a factor on a particular day, they might go down to the tour van and get a heavier shaft installed on their driver in order to hit the ball lower. What are your options on a windy day? Either tee off with a low iron to keep the ball down, or hit the ball straight into the wind with your driver and watch it get knocked down about 25 yards short of where you wanted to hit it. Callaway I-Mix will give golfers the ability to adjust their equipment according to weather and course conditions.
Callaway I-Mix technology works by allowing you to mix and match your choice of 70 different shafts with two different I-Mix driver heads. The I-Mix driver heads are two of Callaway’s most popular models the FT-5 and FT-i (also available in tour versions) and the shafts come from premier manufacturers like: Aldila, Fujikura, Mitsubishi Rayon, UST, Graphite Design, Matrix and Grafalloy. Each shaft is equipped with a special end cap that allows it to be screwed into the I-Mix driver head of your choice. Both the I-Mix FT-5 and FT-i clubheads are available in different lofts, fade or neutral biases and come with the I-Mix wrench that helps you attach and detach different shafts in less than 5 minutes.
With Callaway I-Mix technology, the driver combinations are pretty much endless. You can build a driver for every different course condition or weather condition all while tailoring it to your particular game. Callaway has even come up with the ideal shaft and clubhead combinations for every condition.
- Windy Day - A clubhead with less loft and/or a heavier shaft can result in more penetrating ball flight.
- Hot Day - A clubhead with less loft and/or a stiffer shaft can improve ball flight.
- Cold Day - A clubhead with more loft and/or a more flexible shaft can improve launch conditions.
- Wet Soft Fairways - A clubhead with more loft and/or a more flexible shaft can increase ball carry
- Dry Firm Fairways - A clubhead with less loft an/or a stiffer shaft can increase roll.
- Short and Tight Fairways - A shorter and/or heavier shaft can offer more control.
- Long and Open Fairways - A longer and/or lighter shaft can generate more club speed for greater distance.
Any I-Mix Shaft works with either I-Mix clubhead to give you the ultimate control over your game. Custom fitted drivers gives any golfer an edge but Callaway I-Mix technology takes customization to a whole new level. If distance and workability are more important to you, get the FT-5 clubhead. If control is more important, get the FT-i clubhead. If you want a mixture of distance and control, you can get both clubheads and get as many different shafts as you want to go with either one. You can read the weather report the morning of an outing and adjust your I-Mix driver accordingly. You can also adjust by course layout or how you have been playing lately. All of this is now possible for the every day golfer because of Callaway I-Mix technology. Callaway I-Mix system gives amateurs the same luxury that the professionals have on tour giving them the ability to take their game to a whole new dimension.
